My given name is Tan Shan Kui (Daoist name – Tan Mao Zi Chen). I was born in 1989 in Hua Lian country in Taiwan. At six years old I moved to England with my parents for four years. I loved wushu from a young age and after graduating from junior high school chose to leave my home in order to travel to Henan province in China in order to learn Shaolin wushu at the Shaolin E- Po Wushu Academy. It is from this point that my life of wushu began. After 3 years in Shaolin, I realized that I still had not received from my training what I was looking for. In 2007 I traveled to the Wudang Daoist Traditional Kung Fu Academy in Hubei province in order to become a disciple of Master Yuan Xiu Gang. It was during this time that I began studying internal wushu, Daoist culture, and yangsheng practices.
Personal experiences
January 2004 until January 2007 – studying Shaolin wushu at the Shaolin E Po Wushu Academy. It was during this time that I began learning the concept of “Chan Buddhism’s clear heart seeing the true character, and the sudden epiphanies of the Buddha”. It was during this time that I began to cultivate my character.
2007/1---2008/9
January 2007 until September 2008 – began studying at the Wudang Daoist Traditional Kung Fu Academy. During this time I began understanding the core principles of internal kung fu practice and established a stronger foundation in external wushu practice as well.
2009/9---2014/9
2009 until present – student of Master Yuan’s 5 intensive
5 year long International Traditional Class. During this time I greatly deepened my practices of Wudang internal kung fu training.
